Editor-in-Chief, Veterinary Manual

The Editor-in-Chief (EIC), our Company's Veterinary Manual (our Company's VM) reports directly to the Editor-in-Chief of our company's Manuals (our Company's M). Our Company's MM EIC manages our company's Veterinary Manual team and all editorial, multimedia content, and publishing-related tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

Oversee and implement editorial standards for our Company's VM text, multimedia, and other content.
Oversee content to ensure coverage of all clinically important issues for both veterinary professional and the public (pet owners)
Manage budgetary and staffing issues, in conjunction with our company's Manuals Editor-in-Chief.
Create and implement strategy to ensure our Company's VM business success and growth.
Identify and manage all necessary and useful changes, enhancements, and additions to our Company's VM content and product.
Manage our Company's VM Executive Editor and other Company VM employees.
Manage and mentor all veterinarian editors, including time allocation, work quality, and professional development.
Work with Executive Editor and Staff Editors to manage editorial workflow and ensure timely updating and publishing of content.
Identify and recruit Editorial Board members, authors, and other editorial contributors.
Review, edit, and write our Company's VM chapters and other content.
Ensure content is accurate, evidence-based, current, and clinically relevant.
Ensure content is clear and well-organized.
Review and edit multimedia content (including quizzes, case studies, social media posts)
Maintain clinical expertise and be well-informed of current medical evidence and practice.
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, outside consultants, and strategic partners.
Work closely with Awareness, Marketing, and Partnerships leadership to create and review marketing and social media campaigns and materials and to recruit and work with external partners.
Represent our Company's VM at trade shows and other events.
Work closely with Digital Publications leadership to initiate and manage technology projects.
Participate in our Company's Manuals leadership team and attend team, leadership team, and other meetings.
Work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a team-oriented environment
Establish and achieve priorities and work independently.

EDUCATION

Veterinary degree (DVM or equivalent)
Completion of residency training

Experience And Skills

Required experience and skills:

At least five years of clinical experience
Experience in veterinary medical education
At least five years full time experience in digital medical publishing with demonstrated excellence in writing and editing clinical information for veterinary professionals and the public (pet owners)
Significant experience with management of digital medical publications and clinical websites and apps
Demonstrated leadership experience, including personnel supervision, budget, and project management.
Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication and ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Experience And Skills

Experience with content management systems and software
Familiarity with social media use for education and promotion
Wide range of contacts within the veterinary industry

Additional Requirements

Travel required for trade shows and in-person team meetings and other business responsibilities.
