About this opportunity:
920 News Now is Spokane’s News, Traffic and Weather Station. We are looking for a Co-Host/Producer for our morning news show that runs Monday – Friday. In addition to time spent in the studio, you will be out in the community at events and client remotes meeting our amazing listeners which can take place outside of your normal workday and be asked to assist in some duties on our Sports station, 700 ESPN. If you can demonstrate superior leadership, on-air, and social media/digital content skills, we want to hear from you.
What you’ll do:
Serve as a co-host of the morning news program
Gather news from a number of sources and develop ideas for news stories and features
Research, write, produce and edit news stories, sports store and traffic reports
Conduct studio, remote, and phone interviews
Develop topics, secure guests
Serve as back-up newscaster for news and sports programs
Participate in station development and promotional functions
Keep current on issues of importance and interest to listeners
Manage and integrate social media (e.g. Facebook and Twitter) into talk programming on- and off-air
Provide program hosts with background material, suggested introductions and questions
Screen phone calls
Fill in for other producing staff across our radio group as assigned
Write and post content to web and various social media sites
What you’ll bring:
Ability to work independently to complete required assignments, with little or no assistance, under strict deadline pressure
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; accurate spelling and proper use of grammar is required
Demonstrated ability to work and problem solve quickly and independently
Ability to multitask
Board operation experience
Strict attention to detail
Know, practice, and maintain the highest standards of journalistic ethics and excellence
Familiarity with and practical knowledge of social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter
Prior experience editing audio of broadcast quality
Resiliency and good judgment when faced with the unexpected
On-air reporting, radio newswriting and sports writing experience preferred
Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations
Availability to work graveyard shifts

Pay range: $17.50/hour – $18.50/hour
