The Reporter II or Senior Reporter, Native News reports, writes and produces daily news and in-depth stories and program segments for newscasts, news magazine programs, specials, and all Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) News platforms. As a member of the Native News Reporting Project, this reporter will primarily cover news and issues related to Native communities in Minnesota and the upper Midwest region. The ability to work and thrive in a collaborative environment is a must. There may also be assignments to support other teams/areas of news coverage as deemed necessary by MPR News editors.
Expected Compensation Range: $63,500 - $76,200/yr. Exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.

Position Responsibility:
Guides coverage of Native communities in Minnesota and the upper Midwest region.
Maintains a wide variety of sources, with an emphasis on Native and Indigenous voices.
Delivers substantive reports with a quick turnaround on varied subjects within deadlines.
Gathers information, audio and visuals for reports and programs on all platforms.
Pitches and reports breaking, live news and feature stories. Pitches newsworthy ideas that tie into current events and advance news coverage.
Delivers stories with fully developed on-air style and originality in writing.
Manages multiple assignments of short and long-term duration.
Brings complicated ideas to air in collaboration with Editors.
Performs public outreach, as needed.
Other duties, including news coverage and reporting, as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or equivalent work experience.
Five or more years experience reporting or other applicable experience.
