Pitch your idea by emailing editor@nysfocus.com. Include your plan, what you know about the topic, what you still need to find, and your sourcing strategy. If there's prior coverage, briefly mention it and explain your unique approach. If it's time-sensitive, mention that.

Use "pitch" and a brief topic description in the subject line.

Payment: Our standard rate is $800 per story. Larger investigative projects may negotiate a higher fee. Short news pieces or opinion pieces may receive less.
