Newsletter Editor

New Posted 9 February 2024 | Australia | News Corp Australia

What’s the role?

As we continue our drive to remain the most cutting-edge digital media company in Australia, News Corp is searching for outstanding writers and curators of content who have whip-smart news judgment, enjoy a fast-paced environment, and have a real ability to connect personally with an audience.

Our growing suite of newsletter products is a vital part of our digital media presence and key to driving some of the new and innovative ways that News Corp wishes to engage with our audiences now and in the future.

A hands-on role, the Newsletter Editor will be focused on sourcing great content from across our suite of brands and packaging them into various newsletter formats - from breaking news and news wraps through to brilliantly written personalised commentaries on some of the biggest issues of the day.
This role will require connecting our Communities each and every day.
You will be authoring and curating newsletters for a vast audience, bringing them the very latest in news, sport, lifestyle and entertainment straight to their inboxes.
This role can be based in our Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide offices.

Who are you?

To be successful in this role you are a content consumption and distribution machine. You know what people care about because you’re amongst it, constantly trawling the web and analysing trends.

You want to always be at the heart of what matters most to your audience.
You have around 5+ years experience as a journalist and have previously worked in a newsroom environment, with preferably experience in digital media storytelling.
Create and curate compelling and engaging content through strong writing and quick news judgment
Identify the key issues of the day by analysing audience data, and then find or create content to package into newsletters to meet that audience need
Change tone, voice and writing style depending on the target brand
Collaborate with all levels of a newsroom - from junior reporters to senior editors, photographers and videographers.
Excellent planning and scheduling skills to stay ahead afloat in a busy, “always on” news cycle
Write captivating headlines and you have a sixth sense for what will go viral.
Are a great team player, supporting your teammates and ‘jump in’ to get things done
You are vibrant, energised and ready to engage across the organisation.
You will introduce new and innovative ways to showcase our content and tell great stories in a newsletter format, continually exploring new customer and competitor trends in “inbox journalism”.
Digital media doesn’t scare or slow you down. It accelerates you.
