Sports Reporter

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and resilient individual who is passionate about sport and can deliver engaging, high-quality content which matters to readers. You will be part of a team which covers a wide range of sport - from Geelong’s strong local weekly competitions, to national professional sports which compete in our city including, of course, the Geelong Cats in the AFL and AFLW.

The best candidate will be confident and skilled in news gathering, have a solid grasp of social media and be able to go beyond results and match reports to publish original stories and exclusive insights.

About the role:

Fixed-term opportunity: 10-month contract covering maternity leave.
Source and create compelling stories which resonate with our audience
Deliver relevant content which both engages our existing subscribers and attracts new readers
Work under deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment
Focus on online engagement and drive subscription growth
Demonstrate initiative to break new stories and identify unique angles to drive conversation and take the story forward
Digest digital data and use it in planning and generating content

Who are you?
