Trainee Reporter

The South Wales Argus is looking for a new trainee reporter to join our busy newsroom at the heart of Newport. This role is suited to a trainee who has completed their NCTJ diploma and is ready to make an immediate impact reporting on a city with big ambitions and bags of potential. You will be part of a newsroom that produces the daily South Wales Argus and weekly titles the Free Press Series, Penarth Times and Barry & District News. We need a reporter who will take ownership of growing our online audience in the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as helping report on Newport and breaking news across the patch. It’s an exciting and varied job. You could be doing a Facebook Live report from the city centre during a food festival, running a live blog from a breaking news incident, and writing a heart-warming community story all on the same shift. The role will involve weekend work and early and late shifts on a rota basis, once you have established yourself in the team.
