Job Description
The Olympic Reporter will be based in our Sydney office and will be responsible for driving our coverage of the Olympics by breaking news, chasing exclusives with athletes from Olympic sports, as well as being involved in the planning of preview and event content. Weekend work will also be required.
Day to day you will:
Cover the news cycle and breaking news
Generate story ideas
Research and write original articles and features
Upload content to CMS
Implement SEO best practice for all content
Use social media tools to post content and drive engagement
Content plan to build towards big events/Olympic Games time
Please note you must be available and eligible to travel overseas and interstate for Olympic or sports coverage!
Qualifications
This role would best suit a reporter/producer with some experience, who is self motivated and willing to work hard to build contacts and lead the agenda. Must be passionate about sport and have a particular interest in Olympic sports.
What we would like to see on your resume:
Experience in digital news or relevant publishing experience in print media or broadcast media
Demonstrated writing skills essential, with proven ability to produce clear compelling copy
Ability to write concise, timely and accurate news
A proven ability to build contacts and break news
Strong understanding of all social media platforms
A passion for sport with a strong emphasis on Olympic sports
Excellent knowledge of the English language, grammar and syntax
High level of interpersonal and communication skills
Proven ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is an advantage
