The NY Daily News is looking for a reporter to explore issues related to children and education at a critical moment in the city’s history. This will be first and foremost an accountability job focusing on the public school system, the Administration for Children’s Services and other agencies responsible for the education and welfare of children. Strong storytelling skills are also critical as we explore how these issues are playing out at ground level – through the eyes of students, parents and teachers, among others. We are looking for a productive and fast-moving journalist who is able to track developing news and events across multiple disciplines at once. The ideal candidate must possess strong writing skills; initiative; creativity; good news judgment; attention to detail; self-direction; the ability to multitask and meet deadlines; the ability and desire to work with a team; a strong command of the English language and a commitment to accuracy. They should have a sophisticated understanding of digital trends, social media and audience metrics. This is a dayside position, Monday through Friday.
