The NY Daily News is looking for a reporter to cover an issue vital to New Yorkers: Transportation. This is a rich and varied beat, including the MTA and mass transit, efforts to reduce congestion, parking woes, issues related to highways and more. This will be first and foremost an accountability job focusing on public agencies associated with transportation. Strong storytelling skills are also critical as we explore how these issues are playing out at ground level – through the eyes of mass transit riders, drivers and others. We are looking for a productive and fast-moving journalist who is able to track developing news and events across multiple disciplines at once. The ideal candidate must possess strong writing skills; initiative; creativity; good news judgment; attention to detail; self-direction; the ability to multitask and meet deadlines; the ability and desire to work with a team; a strong command of the English language and a commitment to accuracy. They should have a sophisticated understanding of digital trends, social media and audience metrics.
