Your skills should include excellent writing and storytelling and a willingness to doggedly pursue the truth through sourcing, public records, public meetings and data. If your style is to send emails to spokespeople and wait for replies you can copy and paste into a story, this isn't the right newsroom for you. But if you're eager to help uncover and solve problems that affect thousands, if you'll hold power to account and can bulletproof your stories, stop reading and send a resumé. The salary is competitive for an experienced journalist.
