Investigative Reporter

New Posted 3 January 2024 | Oklahoma City, Oklahoma | Oklahoma Watch

Oklahoma Watch, based in Oklahoma City and established in 2010, is looking for an aggressive reporter to cover evictions and homelessness OR race and equity in Oklahoma. You'll work in a modern office in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City in a building that also houses the state's largest daily newspaper and largest commercial television station. OKC is booming and has a cost of living 28.5% below the national average.

In 2024 we have 13 paid holidays in addition to vacation and sick time and a 401(k) with immediate 100% matching to 3% and we pay 100% of employee health insurance. In addition to our site and newsletters, our work is routinely published by the state's newspapers, radio and television stations.

Your skills should include excellent writing and storytelling and a willingness to doggedly pursue the truth through sourcing, public records, public meetings and data. If your style is to send emails to spokespeople and wait for replies you can copy and paste into a story, this isn't the right newsroom for you. But if you're eager to help uncover and solve problems that affect thousands, if you'll hold power to account and can bulletproof your stories, stop reading and send a resumé. The salary is competitive for an experienced journalist.
