The Omaha World-Herald seeks a reporter with at least five years’ experience to help cover Nebraska and western Iowa politics, including keeping tabs on the congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. We’re looking for a reporter who understands politics and government and can produce both spot coverage and deeper enterprise. You must show that you can recognize and develop stories and issues that resonate with print and digital audiences. The ideal candidate can work quickly on competitive breaking stories, but also is able to investigate controversial issues and explain how complex policy debates affect people. You should be comfortable with data and documents, and be able to show strong digital orientation. The World-Herald is Nebraska’s largest news operation with a history of accountability reporting and strong support for its reporters. We’ve won the eight-state Great Plains Journalism Awards newspaper of the year in both 2020 and 2021. And we’re a digital-first organization with a growing digital subscriber base and strong visual/audio storytelling skills.
