About the Role:
OPIS’ Voluntary Carbon Market editors collect and analyze carbon credit allowance data to assess daily pricing indices for the evolving global voluntary carbon market.
As an editor, you will write real-time news and feature stories on carbon offsets credits pricing and fundamentals. You will research and report on new developments in global carbon policies and programs. You will also be cross-trained and learn how to cover several different carbon markets in a back-up capacity, beyond primary market assignments.
You Will:
Generate breaking and feature news alerts on voluntary carbon markets, clean energy, and environmental sustainability initiatives
Collect and analyze spot market price transactions from industry participants via email, instant messaging and by phone
Verify legitimacy of market price transactions and adhere to Dow Jones pricing methodology to create daily price assessments
Track emerging carbon credit types, carbon quality initiatives and net-zero news
Develop methodology and design indices for new markets
Develop, engage, and network sources within the global carbon credit trading industry
Contribute to social media content, blog postings, industry analysis, and publish Dow Jones reports
You Have:
At least 3 years’ journalism or market analysis experience, preferably in the environmental, commodities, or financial sector
Working knowledge of the voluntary carbon market which includes, but is not limited to carbon offsets credits and global climate pact agreements
Experience parsing complex regulatory and market issues into accurate and easily understood content
Experience using Excel or other spreadsheet programs to aid with data and market driver analysis
Source development and market engagement proficiency
Existing industry contacts within the carbon market space (preferred)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
