More than half of Americans have a poor credit score or no score at all. Since most financial institutions rely on traditional credit scoring to assess risk, that means these people can't access affordable financial products. Instead, they resort to high-interest credit cards, payday loans, and trigger overdraft fees to make ends meet — which ultimately push them into deeper cycles of debt.
Pinwheel provides an API platform that makes it easy to connect payroll accounts like ADP and Gusto to any app. By unlocking the wealth of identity, income and employment data that sits in these systems, alongside direct access to paychecks, we can help innovators build the next generation of financial products that increase access for the underserved while improving the businesses of our partner fintechs, banks, and lenders.
Who are we looking for?
As our Senior Copywriter, you will be a key factor in driving Pinwheel’s next stage of growth. More concretely, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our content strategy and developing engaging editorial that aligns with our mission, promotes conversation and resonates with our prime target audience. You should be a creative storyteller, with a journalistic style of writing and a passion for improving the financial services industry.
What will you be doing?
You will be writing weekly content for several engagement platforms including our company blog, covering a variety of topics within the financial services industry
Be responsible for leading your beat, generating and crowdsourcing content ideas, and collaborate with the Marketing team to sequence the content calendar of the company
Analyze and drive content covering marketing and engagement trends across banks alongside consumer behaviors and expectations. You will interview customers and prospects regularly and supplementing story evidence with 3rd party research
Run a weekly newsroom for all customer facing employees to pitch story ideas and own the editorial calendar
This role will be on a part-time contract basis
What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?
5+ years of experience as copywriter with experience owning content from content ideation, through research to publishing
Accustomed to analyzing, researching, evidencing and supporting claims in a journalistic nature. You content teaches the audience something. You are comfortable being provocative.
Prior free lance experience with a proven track record of self-starting and delivering value immediately upon entering new environments
Strong project management mentality, with ability to manage/lead deadlines including dependancies on others
Experience publishing across platforms (Hubspot, Linkedin, Blog) a plus
Domain experience working with fintechs or financial services orgs is a plus, but not required
