Lesley Evans Ogden, Features Editor at BioScience, is looking for pitches: I'm looking to commission 3000 word feature stories for the BioScience 2023 line up. BioScience features are about the study of biology and experiences of biologists. Science writers from underrepresented groups particularly encouraged to pitch. Since April 2022, I have been the features editor at BioScience, published by the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS). BioScience publishes one journalistic feature per issue (each month) for an audience of professional biologists. All features are assigned at 3000 words, and writers are paid a set rate of $3000 US. Features are written under a non-exclusive license. (That means writers retain the rights to their story, which allows for potential republishing opportunities).
