The Tributary is hiring an investigative reporter focused on police accountability. The position pays $70,000 a year, in addition to benefits and an automatic 6% employer contribution to a 401k plan. This position requires you to live in or relocate to Jacksonville, FL. The Tributary allows you to work from home at your discretion. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is the second-largest Sheriff’s Office in Florida, acting simultaneously as the county jailer and the city’s police department. This reporter will be expected to source deeply within the Sheriff’s Office and the community, use public-records laws and analyze data in order to produce accountability stories about policing in Jacksonville. Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams resigned following The Tributary’s reporting, and the city is now beginning a special election to replace him.
