Political Reporting Internship

New Posted 5 February 2024 | Springfield, Illinois | University of Illinois Springfield

The Public Affairs Reporting graduate degree program at the University of Illinois Springfield is the most cost- and time-efficient way to advance your journalism career. For more than 50 years, PAR has offered college graduates and early career journalists a 10-month master’s degree curriculum that includes professional experience covering Illinois government and politics from inside the state Capitol. A paid internship with a professional news outlet, guaranteed scholarships, tuition waivers and grant funding from the Joyce Foundation offset most (or, for Illinois residents, all) tuition and fee costs. A background in journalism or communications is helpful but not required. You bring the passion and desire to hold government officials accountable and inform citizens; we’ll provide advanced training and opportunities. The next cohort begins Aug. 23, 2024. For more, visit www.uis.edu/par or contact program director Jason Piscia at jason.piscia@uis.edu. Piscia will host a live webinar about PAR at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31. To attend, register at uis.edu/graduate/exploring-graduate-school.EOE.
