POLITICO is seeking a dynamic, aggressive and enterprising journalist to cover the politics of education in New York. The Albany-based reporter will cover state-level education policy — from pre-K to higher ed — break news and write high-impact enterprise stories for an informed, professional audience. The journalist will also be called upon to write dispatches for POLITICO’s national readership — and to cover the state’s influential governor, its Legislature and the annual budget process. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and capable of producing a steady flow of well-written stories while co-anchoring a daily newsletter. They should also have a strong understanding of how to build a network of trustworthy sources and the ability to independently develop story ideas with robust angles, provocative and fresh ideas and a clear sense of purpose.
