Defense Industry Reporter

POLITICO is seeking an experienced reporter to cover military acquisitions for our growing Defense team. This is a new position, hyper-focused on the politics and policy of defense weaponry — at the highest levels of the Pentagon and across the military services. We are looking for a hungry reporter who already breaks news on the defense beat and is ready to take their reporting to the next level.

You’ll join a crew of scoop-driven, agenda-setting reporters who cover Pentagon leadership, Capitol Hill and the defense industry. You’ll pull back the curtain on the big-ticket budget fights between the services and the high-stakes influence game on Capitol Hill. You’ll spot trends in the newest defense technology, from hypersonic weapons to AI to uncrewed ships, aircraft and vehicles. You’ll dig up the newest intel for influential subscribers, and team up with our White House, Congress and national security reporters to break the big stories.
