POLITICO is seeking a Digital Producer who is passionate about journalism and looking to kick start a career in a newsroom. The ideal candidate will have solid news judgment and be able to navigate a professional newsroom with good humor and grace, regardless of everchanging circumstances. You can tackle any challenges that arise and enjoy solving problems all while being detail oriented. You’re able to multi-task without losing focus and prioritize multiple projects while juggling several competing deadlines – you are eager, but realistic about taking on more projects without sacrificing quality. Your written and verbal communication skills make you an approachable “go-to” for relaying messages to senior colleagues inside and outside of the newsroom.
What You'll Do:
Work closely with our reporters and editors to copy edit and publish POLITICO’s content adhering to Associated Press and in-house copy-editing standards
Add art, produce/test links and schedule alerts and calendar events
File and tag stories in the content management system (CMS) while troubleshooting any snags and glitches that arise
Communicate with reporters and editors onsite and offsite, while maintaining a calm demeanor in sometimes hectic news cycles
Beat out the competition by breaking news via alerts and social media, and you'll push stories to the top of search results with smart SEO
Work under exhilarating deadlines to transform a story from a text file to a journalistic work of art, outfitting it with powerful photos, sharp sidebars and the latest videos
Serve as the final say before publishing our work
