POLITICO is seeking a high-impact, high-energy reporter in New York City to join a new legal reporting team. We’re searching for a reporter who can break news on big political cases and investigations out of the DOJ’s Southern District of New York office; is well sourced in and can write fluidly about New York-based courts and the community of players in the legal arena; and has a nose for stories about the politics of the courts and law. We’re looking for someone who is great at spotting key legal cases that will resonate with an audience of political obsessives — and who loves writing about political tensions within New York’s courts and prosecutor offices. The reporter will be part of a legal reporting team that POLITICO is launching, working closely with an editor and stable of reporters in Washington as well as with our congressional, politics and national security teams on stories, events and more.
