POLITICO is seeking an aggressive, enterprising journalist to cover the intersection of the technology industry with Washington policy and politics, focusing on battles over online speech and content moderation. This reporter will cover the debates brewing among regulatory agencies, Congress, the White House and tech companies pushing to shape the rules of the road. You’ll develop a particular focus on debates around online content and speech, pursuing scoops in key topics including the push to revamp Section 230, allegations of bias in social media and tech giants’ actions to curb controversial content on their platforms. You’ll dig into the tug-of-war between industry and Washington over how to handle misinformation and extremist messaging, along with algorithmic bias and rules for targeted advertising.
