This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious PR Executive to be a key player and take a hands-on role our busy AA press office. We are in the national and local news every day of the week. You’ll be joining a small, but skilled team, with a great reputation in the media. If you’ve got energy and drive, then this is a great chance to really develop your career.

As our PR Executive, you’ll help contribute to increasing public awareness and protect the reputation of our AA products/services to customers and businesses. You’ll support the small press team and answer questions from the media on a wide range of motoring and transport topics including road safety, traffic hotspots, fuel prices or future car trends etc. Manage and coordinate day-to-day running of the press office including drafting reactive media enquiries, liaison with our social media team and media monitoring.

You’ll work hybrid from our Cheadle office 2-3 days per week however, our team do travel across other locations for various AA and press events including regular travel to our HQ in Basingstoke.

What will I be doing?

Support PR and policy content on theAA.com by uploading news stories via our content management system
Research, write, and ‘sell-in’ compelling material for both national and regional broadcast, online and print media
Help identify potential risks that may damage the reputation of the AA and bring these to the attention of appropriate AA senior management
Enhance the reputation of the PR and Public Affairs team internally by working with internal communications to showcase our work
Maintain and develop a wide range of relevant contacts in national and regional media, the AA and external sources – attending and contributing to external and internal business/planning/operational meetings
Provide briefings and advice to prepare other AA executives or spokespeople for print, online, radio and television interviews. Be willing to conduct some media interviews
Participate in out of hours’ media cover

What do I need?

Essential

Experience within PR, Social Media or Journalism within either in-house or agency
Proficient ‘writer’ with the ability to translate complex topics through to a consumer-friendly manner delivering an accurate and timely message to a deadline
Good understanding of how press, online, radio, television and social media news works
Willingness to become comfortable with printed, electronic and broadcast media as a spokesperson
Strong collaborator with all walks of life, both internal AA stakeholders as well as external parties/consumers and external media
Passionate and willing to learn about The AA brand and all products/services we offer
