As we face a global pandemic, an American cultural reckoning on racial injustice, an unfolding economic crisis and an upcoming election, never has the role of investigative journalism been more critical. We are looking for an experienced, ambitious and collegial reporter who is eager to seize this moment and uncover how these issues and others are playing out in Chicago and Illinois. You’ll join a newsroom that has, since its launch a little less than three years ago, produced investigative journalism that has helped erase millions of dollars in debt, oust government officials, change state policy and free people from prison. Our stories have ranged from multipart examinations of the impact of video gambling across the state to a first-person reported essay about the lingering effects of racism in a small town. We’ve even done a little theater.
