We are looking for an accomplished reporter who wants to share powerful stories about the U.S. health care system’s inequities, weaknesses and gaps in oversight. Few topics affect readers as much as health care, and we want someone who is passionate about exploring the system’s winners and losers. Your job will be to do enterprising, hard-hitting health care stories that spur even more coverage. Your work should hold powerful people accountable and expose the real-life consequences of their decisions. ProPublica has been a pioneer in melding investigative stories with popular news applications that give consumers tools to ask their own health care providers critical questions. These include Dollars for Docs, Prescriber Checkup and Surgeon Scorecard. We’re hoping to find someone who wants to build on that.
