PublicSource.org is seeking a reporter to cover economic development issues in the Pittsburgh area. The ideal candidate has the ability to produce ongoing and enterprise journalism about the issues, policies and people that influence both the built environment and the human capital of the Pittsburgh area. We are a collaborative newsroom dedicated to facts, excellence, diverse voices and the pursuit of transparency. Economic development is one of PublicSource's most important beats. After decades of decline following the collapse of the steel industry, Pittsburgh's transformation into a hub for education, medicine, technology and finance have earned national attention, as has its purported status as one of America's "most livable" cities. But redevelopment has been wildly uneven, and equity issues abound in both fast-growing and struggling communities. Notably, affordable housing has gone from surplus to scarcity.
