Quartz seeks a Reporter to contribute to its coverage of the technology sector, with a focus on informed analysis of breaking news and developing trends. We’ll look to you to help readers understand what the industry is obsessing about today and see around corners to help them prepare for the future. We’ll want you to be excited about the fundamental potential of technology, while staying thoughtful, critical, and provocative in your coverage of it.
Your day might include any combination of writing quick, chart-driven posts, explaining the story behind the story at big tech brands, delving into the intersection of tech and culture, and weighing in on the big issues of our time.
The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial approach to their work, and the ability to convey authority and curiosity in their writing. You will relish surfacing stories hiding in unexpected places and feel comfortable with using formats other than 700-word articles (such as shorter pieces, photos, and charts) when they’re better for efficiency and effectiveness in getting a story across.
This role is best suited for a reporter with at least five years of experience. To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and five links to relevant work.
