We are looking for a Sports Reporter & Social Media Producer to join our newsroom team!
Reporting to the US Sports Editor, you will write stories for our brands with a focus on US Sports, manage our social media pages and grow our social media following. This role will have an enormous responsibility in driving traffic and growing our brand.
Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.
Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle - all targeted at US audiences.
We’re now entering a period of rapid growth, and are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams.

Job Description
A caretaker of all social, this person will manage our social media accounts and take charge of links, you will also write content for our newsbrands when necessary. Through this you will tap into the US sports audience and drive numbers through content.
You will:
Take on breaking news lines to get snaps live within minutes.
Enter the newsroom armed with ideas to help support the daily news agenda.
Buy into our tabloid DNA and the product we’re bringing to the United States.
Work with a team of sports fans in a fast-paced environment where we celebrate achievements and encourage pro-activeness.
Be comfortable at times working on your own and becoming a dependable figure on desk.
Have an awareness of our rivals and who our competition is.
Shift Patterns
This is an office based role working from our New York hub, we are therefore open to candidates based in or commutable to New York.
Shifts are done on a rolling rota basis, and can range anywhere from 10:00am EST - 11:00pm EST. Any shifts ending after 9:00pm EST will have the flexibility to be completed remotely.
A level of flexibility is required in this role, as shifts are open to last minute changes as a result of current news affairs. Weekend shifts will also be required when needed.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment with the ability to write to a national standard at speed while reporting accurately
An expert in social media (including Twitter/X, Facebook, Youtube & TikTok) and a track record of growing audiences from a business perspective
A fan of all sports and passion for delivering news to a reader
Hungry to create growth and reach new audiences.
A confident and articulate communicator capable of juggling responsibilities while staying on top of group chats
A self-starter with a can-do, will-do attitude
Able to work all manner of shifts, weekends, evenings, national holidays etc. and flexibility to attend events/games where needed.
