Job Description

Refinery29 Australia is looking for a writer/producer who is passionate about telling stories that matter to young women and gender-diverse people. This is an entry-level position, but we are looking for someone who is already a creative force. You should have a strong understanding of the Refinery29 audience and be able to write and produce content that speaks to their interests.

In this role, you will:
Ideate and pitch stories on a daily basis that cover a variety of lifestyle topics, including work, money, sex, relationships and travel.
Distribute the best of our local content on social media, including TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and Threads. Be the gatekeeper of our social presence, deciding — with oversight from the senior team — which pieces should be posted to TikTok, Instagram etc.
Write 1-2 trending stories per day that are relatable to Refinery29’s audience.
Pitch and write at least one long-form thought-provoking feature each month.
Publish stories directly to Refinery29's social media channels, brainstorming new ways to tell stories through these platforms.
Localise the best of R29’s global content to make it relevant to Australian readers, where appropriate.
Stay on top of emerging news and trends across all platforms, from TikTok to Twitter.
Appear on camera for TikTok and YouTube videos.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:
A unique voice and point of view.
Ambition and a drive to succeed.
A strong understanding of social media and how to use it to reach young women and gender-diverse people.
A hunger to pitch unique, engaging story ideas every day, come up with original angles and juggle multiple pieces in various stages of production.
Experience producing different forms of media, not just written articles, and the ability to package content on each platform in a way that resonates with the R29 audience.
Experience producing content for, and posting to, Facebook and Instagram via business profiles.
