Reporter / Assistant Editor

The Capital Journal in Pierre, South Dakota, seeks a full-time assistant editor/reporter to assist the managing editor and cover local news. Pierre is the state capital of South Dakota. The position starts at $19 per hour including a generous sign-on bonus and relocation assistance, along with a complete benefits package including medical, dental, and retirement benefits. Our newsroom focuses on community reporting, with coverage centered on local issues, news, and sports. The Capital Journal also offers an excellent opportunity for new journalists to gain experience and clips while learning the ins and outs of working in a newsroom. Experience with multimedia reporting is preferred. Candidates must submit writing samples with their resumes for consideration. Writing samples that haven't been published are acceptable.
