Reporter

New Posted 22 September 2023 | Hampshire, England | Solent News

Solent News is seeking a talented reporter to join our award-winning team.

We are one of Britain's best respected agencies and our stories appear on a daily basis both in print and online in the UK and abroad.

From our Hampshire office, we cover arguably the best news patch in the country.

The role would involve covering breaking news (eg the Salisbury Novichok poisonings), criminal cases at some of the country's most important courts, inquests, courts martial and employment tribunals.

Working to tight deadlines, reporters are also expected to have the imagination and skills to generate their own stories as well as the ability to fulfil commissions from publications around the world.

We are commissioned on a daily basis by national newspapers to conduct interviews and cover cases on their behalf, so you will be working for every title - from The Sun and Daily Mirror to the Daily Telegraph and Guardian.

The successful candidate will have a great eye for a story, an eagerness to learn, ambition to develop and a determination to beat the competition.

We have a long and celebrated history of giving young reporters the experience and training they need to make it as a national media reporter and have strong contacts with senior editors across Fleet Street.

Some of the country's best journalists have passed through our doors - we would like to recruit someone with the ambition to do the same.

Substantial experience is not essential. However, decent shorthand, a clean driving licence and willingness to move to the South Coast are.

This is a full time role and evening and weekend work will be expected.

Anyone interested in applying should email their CV - with examples of their work - to jobs@solentnews.co.uk
