Reporter / Newsletter Editor

We're an independent newsroom just emerging from startup mode that has been recognized as one of the most successful in North America. Now it's time to grow, and we need you to help us do that. As a reporter and newsletter editor you'll report each day on issues that matter to a diverse population that has been underserved for years by the local corporate media, then pitch in to build the most popular daily newsletters in our coverage area. We don't chase ambulances or rewrite a lot of press releases. Instead, we listen to our audience and report news and information that makes an impact in their lives. You'll work with fun, caring colleagues who put your wellbeing ahead of the product. What does that look like? Glad you asked! Our staff works a maximum of four days each week and stops each day when the work is done. Sometimes that's after eight hours; sometimes it's after two hours. Most times, we leave weekends and holiday work for the editor/founder, and we're super flexible about time off. We also try to pay a living wage. Those with an interest in having a larger role with the company, including an equity stake, are especially encouraged to apply. We're looking for young, diverse people who can help grow the business and take over from the founder in a few years.
