Position Overview:

Business Insurance is seeking a full-time reporter to work remote in the U.S. to cover the risk management and commercial property/casualty insurance sectors. Beats will include reporting on legal decisions and lawsuits.

Responsibilities:

The role includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:

· Write regular news analyses and features.

· Write breaking news stories for businessinsurance.com.

· Write in-depth cover stories for Business Insurance magazine.

· Develop a deep understanding of the beat and a reliable roster of sources.

· Develop and pitch story ideas to editors.

· Attend industry conferences and events, with some domestic travel.

Qualifications:

· 10+ years’ full-time, professional reporting experience.

· Demonstrated reporting and writing skills.

· Strong writing and analytical skills.

· Experience working a beat.

· Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely.

· Demonstrated ability to generate story ideas.

· Demonstrated ability to develop sources.

· Daily reporting experience preferred.

· Knowledge of the insurance sector and expertise in covering legal stories a plus.

· Experience using WordPress is advantageous.

· Experience working virtually in a team environment.

· Must be a self-starter.

· As this is a remote position, time management skills are a necessity to achieve a healthy work/life balance and strong work ethic.

· Bachelor’s degree or higher and/or relevant business experience.

· Qualified candidates will be asked to submit recent samples of their work and will be paid to complete and submit test assignments.

· Remote Position (some domestic travel may be required).

Salary Range: $70,000 - $82,000 annually (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
