The Herald-Standard, a 10,000 daily circulation newspaper south of Pittsburgh in Southwestern Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for a general assignment reporter capable of writing across multiple publishing platforms. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with solid reporting and writing skills, capable of producing clean copy on deadline. General assignments include meeting or spot news coverage, features or entertainment writing. Experience in court coverage is a plus, and photography skills are essential. The reporter in this position will join an award-winning team of journalists who provide coverage for the Herald-Standard in Fayette County, as well as the daily Observer-Reporter in Washington County and weekly Greene County Messenger in Greene County. Prior reporting experience at a newspaper or a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field are required, as are a valid driver’s license and reliable mode of transportation.
