Reuters is seeking an experienced, dynamic journalist to join its Middle East Breaking News Hub in Dubai. The hub is in charge of producing real-time financial, energy and general news alerts and briefs and quick updates in English from a variety of sources, including TV broadcasts, news conferences, speeches, tweets, podcasts, social media and news agency feeds. The candidate will work closely with bureau chiefs and reporters in the Gulf and across the wider Middle East and North Africa region to break with the highest degree of accuracy news that is important for Reuters’ global audience of decision makers in the worlds of business, media and politics.

About the Role

As our Deputy Middle East Breaking News Editor you will:

Support the Breaking News Editor in managing a dynamic team covering news from across the region

Publish alerts on breaking news clearly, accurately and quickly; write follow up stories and updates at speed to meet the needs of Reuters financial, professional and media clients

Work under pressure in a very fast-paced environment

Rapidly digest statements on political, financial, economic, energy and commodities news, as well as speeches, tweets and TV broadcasts, breaking out the essential information

About You

To be our Deputy Middle East Breaking News Editor you will require:

Excellent command of the Arabic and English languages

A strong understanding of the main issues at play in the region

A solid knowledge of the energy and financial industries

Ability to inspire and help manage a team in a fast-moving environment

Ability to work calmly under pressure.

Readiness to work early or late shifts

Ability to work closely with a large team across the Middle East

Be a strong team player
