Reuters is seeking an experienced, imaginative and highly motivated editor to lead and expand its commentary on financial markets, commodities markets, economics, and other key topics of interest to our global audience.
This appointment is part of a broader push to evolve and elevate Reuters’ commentary to meet the needs of readers, including key financial clients of our customer LSEG, by delivering timely, informed and authoritative insights.
Reporting to Peter Thal Larsen, the Global Editor of Reuters Breakingviews, the Editor will oversee a global team of highly specialised Reuters columnists and analysts. They will also build a roster of high-profile external contributors with a view to shaping and influencing key debates.
As Editor, Reuters Commentary, you will have a proven track record of commissioning and editing analysis and commentary for a financial audience, with a particular focus on drawing out clear arguments and explaining complex concepts. They will demonstrate a passion for discovering and nurturing fresh voices, and for experimenting with new formats to build a wider and more engaged audience.
The Editor will excel at building and leading diverse teams. They must be an outstanding and well-organized people manager who can inspire writers to do their best work. They will have an ability to collaborate with all parts of the broader newsroom, and to work with Reuters’ key clients to better understand the interests of readers.
About the Role
As Editor, Reuters Commentary, you will:
Set and implement a cohesive strategy for the Reuters Commentary team, building on the strength of the current contributors while spotting new opportunities to shape the agenda.
Consider and respond to the evolving needs of the Reuters Commentary audience
Influence key debates and topics in financial markets by commissioning and editing illuminating commentary.
Coordinate with other global editors to align commentary topics with broader coverage in the newsroom.
Lead an experienced global team of columnists and analysts.
About You
