Reuters is seeking journalists to join our dynamic fact-checking team. You will have a passion for politics and current affairs, expertise in navigating social networks and a track record of spotting emerging trends and stories. Most importantly, you’ll need to have sharp instincts and a creative, determined approach to problem-solving.This position will involve identifying potential misinformation concerning U.S. politics or other topical issues, and conducting research to establish the facts behind the claims. You will be expected to write up your findings in clear, concise, English copy.Prior experience in reporting, social media newsgathering, OSINT or fact-checking would be a clear advantage. However, as full training will be given, a willingness to learn quickly is at least as important.
About this role;
As a Fact-Checking Producer, you will:
Identify potential misinformation concerning U.S. politics or other topical issues
Conduct research to establish the facts behind claims
Write up your findings in clear, concise, English copy
Uphold Reuters standards and the Trust Principles
Be deeply familiar with social media as a newsgathering tool and how misinformation travels online
Work as part of our friendly, collaborative and global fact-checking team
This role is based in Bangalore and may require occasional weekend work.
About you
To be a Fact-Checking Producer, you are likely to have:
At least two years of news reporting and/or fact-checking experience
Impeccable writing in English
Interest in current affairs and sound news judgment
Track record in identifying trending content and misinformation
Deep familiarity with features of all leading social networks
A skeptical eye and inquisitive nature
