This position will be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Reuters is looking for a video producer, editor and camera operator to join the visuals team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As a Visual Journalist, you will be responsible for providing daily editorial coverage, breaking and planning news whilst assuring high-quality video throughout Saudi Arabia.
As part of the role, you will deliver news to more than 1,000 broadcasters and hundreds of digital outlets around the world, producing creative and compelling content. You will be part of a multimedia team and work closely with video, text and still photo counterparts in the Gulf and Yemen as well as on the MENA DI Desk.
You will have outstanding news judgement, excellent videography and editing skills, and a proven track record of working with teams both in the field and on the desk. This is a full-time role that demands flexibility to work long hours and some weekends.
About the Role
As a Visual Journalist at Reuters you will:
Be part of the video news gathering team that coordinates and delivers edited and live content from Saudi Arabia. You will also work closely with colleagues across the Gulf, Yemen, and the MENA region at speed.
Handle breaking news whilst pitching stories that go beyond the headlines.
Have a keen eye for visual storytelling and the ability to edit footage within tight deadlines
Have excellent videography and editing skills experience as a full-time camera operator and editor.
Provide quality control for video edits from the MENA region.
Be responsible for the visuals output, ensuring both our visuals and scripts are accurate and impartial.
Work in partnership with Reuters Text counterparts to help create a truly unified newsgathering team.
Be customer-focused and able to tailor content for Reuters digital and broadcast clients.
About You
You're a fit for the position of Visual Journalist at Reuters, if you have:
Demonstrable experience of professional journalism in a broadcast, digital newsroom or agency environment.
Excellent news judgement and a deep understanding of Saudi Arabian news as well as knowledge of the wider Gulf and MENA region. Willingness to get involved in sports coverage is a must!
A passion for news and an understanding of how our clients use it.
Strong video filming, editing and script writing skills.
Solid planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Excellent communications skills including fluency in both English and Arabic (written and oral).
