Weekend Desk Editor

We are looking for an experienced newsroom manager to run our weekend news file and desk operations, working with bureaus and across multimedia to plan for major events and jump on big breaking stories. The successful editor needs to be versatile to run all types of news and collaborative to work with different teams; have strong news judgment to prioritize stories and marshal what can often be a skeleton staff; and be able to multitask and remain calm under pressure as weekends can often be unpredictable with natural disasters, political upheavals, and mega corporate mergers all hitting at once. The successful candidate must be well versed in our breaking news drill, boast sharp writing and editing skills, and a deep understanding of what our global clients want from Reuters, particularly our media and consumer audiences.
