Business Editor

New Posted 12 April 2022 | Rochester, Minnesota | Rochester Post Bulletin

The Rochester Post Bulletin in Minnesota is looking for its next emerging leader: A business editor to direct a reporting team in a face-paced, digital-first newsroom.

Rochester is home to the world famous Mayo Clinic, which means reporters and editors on this beat will cover news from the leading edge of health care, medical research and biotech. In addition, business beat reporters cover everything from manufacturing to restaurants to agriculture. In short, this community of 120,000 one hour south of the Twin Cities has the business-sector punching power of a million-plus metro. The stories you’d tell here will be powerful and unique. As the Post Bulletin’s business editor, about one-third of your time will be spent on editing and leadership, and the remaining two-thirds will be spent fostering community connections and reporting alongside two other star veteran business reporters. The ideal candidate will be active in the community and eager to work in a collaborative, experimental environment. Business editor candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, with one to three years of editing experience preferred. Those without editing experience or who have an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered. A strong knowledge of AP style, along with excellent grammar and spelling skills is required. Also, candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced newsroom, be resourceful and provide ideas that our readers will find interesting and compelling.
