Technical Writer

Pay: $62-$70/hour

Job Description:

The writer will create some content for using GitHub Actions with Azure Services.

The writer is responsible for working with the product development team to:

Learn about new features that need documented
Work with product team members to create and update content
Review contributions from product team members
Write their own content
Test existing articles and keep them up-to-date
To create and edit content, candidates should be familiar with markdown and GitHub.
Candidates should be familiar with Azure Pipelines or other CI/CD systems, such as GitHub Actions.
Ideal candidates will be familiar with both Azure Pipelines and GitHub Actions.

Job Responsibilities:

Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
Maintain records and files of work and revisions
Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or English, Journalism, Communications
5 years experience as a writer for developer documentation or six months of experience in a role where the candidate used Azure Pipelines or GitHub Actions or 1 year of experience using another CI/CD system or three years of experience using Azure Services
Experience in in creating documentation for a technical audience
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Ability to read some programming code
Ability to read and edit YAML
Ability to use GitHub to create and review pull requests
Ability to author content in markdown
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Top 3 Must-Have Hard Skills:

Experience working on work in file formats like YAML, JSON or relatable tech (5+ years)
Experience with GitHub and Markdown (5+ years)
CI/CD experience, Azure Pipelines and GitHub actions ability to use Azure pipelines or GitHub or some equivalent CI/CD tech (5+ years)

Rate/Salary: $62-$70/hour
