The Role: The Market Reporter (Associate Editor) for Asia Chemicals Markets is a reporter who takes responsibility for day-to-day reporting on petrochemical markets in Asia. The Reporter in this position is responsible for every aspect of market reporting, including the collection and publication of primary market information, running an assessment process, assessing the value of a variety of petrochemical products, engaging with market sources, reporting market-related news, writing commentary and analysis, and contributing to methodology development.
Accountabilities:
Assess Asia Petrochemical Markets - Assessing the value of a defined set products in petrochemical markets with sharp accuracy on a daily basis.
Deliver High-Quality Market Commentaries – Responsible for writing market commentaries associated with the assessments to make readers understand what is happening in the market and the rationale behind the movement in prices.
Write Timely Market News – Reporting news and analysis relating to and impacting petrochemical markets, to help readers understand what is happening in the market place, including news about supply/demand developments, government data, new developments in regulations and analysis of price trends, and other relevant topics.
Frequent Market Engagement with Industry - The market reporter is responsible for engaging with market sources around the region. They are expected to find and nurture new market sources; maintain a good relationship with existing sources; develop methodology through regular market engagement.
Work with a Global Team: The right candidate for this role will be a curious, independent and enthusiastic team player with a keen interest for market reporting in a dynamic environment where market-moving changes occur every day. What we're looking for:
Bachelor's Degree required; economics, journalism, finance, or business-related fields preferred.
Three years of experience in price reporting, journalism, or analytics preferred.
Drive to develop knowledge of petrochemicals. Understanding of market fundamentals is necessary, in order to develop subject matter expertise.
Accuracy under time pressure. It is critical that we deliver timely and high-quality assessments to the market.
Knowledge of Arabic language would be an added advantage.
Excellent communicator.
Comfortable with public speaking and presenting.
Proven real time news abilities - this position will be writing news and analysis on a real time basis.
Strong mathematical and writing skills.
Ability to perform well both individually and as part of the team.
