The Role: You’ll sit within the Q&D editing team, which is part of the wider Asia-Pacific news team at S&P Global Commodity Insights. You’ll work with global commodity editors, content creators, market reporters and analysts in a fast-paced environment. The real-time content to be edited includes spot news, features, analysis, analytics, market commentaries and rationales, thought leadership pieces, blogs and infographics, among others.

The Quality & Digital, or “Q&D,” editing team is a global group of editors tasked with ensuring S&P Global Commodity Insights content meets high journalistic standards. The team drives long-term improvement and excellence in content, playing a central role in coaching and mentoring reporters in their journey to becoming strong content creators.

As Senior Editor, you will be expected to guide reporters and editors, carry out training sessions and manage projects.

The Impact: To ensure quality, consistency, accuracy and adherence to S&P Global Commodity Insights’ News Essentials and style across all content.

You’ll play a central role in ensuring the content meets the highest editorial standards, is free of errors and libel risk, and is structured to have maximum impact. You’ll develop strong written and spoken communication skills, digital and visualization skills, and will learn to work within tight deadlines. You’ll also optimize content for social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all content meets S&P Global Commodity Insights News Essentials principles and style rules.

• If required, send content back for rework with constructive feedback.

• Ensure all content is market relevant, accurate, legally compliant and concise.

• Ensure our insight is presented in the best way and suggest changes when needed.

• Help ensure spglobal.com content is optimized for online display, with tight headlines/subheads, clear graphics and hyperlinks.

• Guide and train new reporters and editors.

What We’re Looking For: Someone who is passionate about driving news and has knowledge on commodity markets. A keen eye for detail; a thirst for knowledge; very strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong English language writing and editing skills; digital media skills; moderate to strong math skills; and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Basic Qualifications:

The ability to edit a high volume of wide-ranging, complex, often sensitive copy, at speed and under pressure.
The ability to apply the tenets of good journalism while editing content. This means ensuring

the content is factually accurate as well as clear and concise, adheres to house style, has the proper sourcing and attribution, and is free of plagiarism and libel concerns.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working on a news desk, particularly for a news wire

4-6 years of editing experience will be highly advantageous

Working knowledge of energy and other commodity markets and industries

High degree of literacy and numeracy

A degree in journalism is a plus
