Local News Reporter

Schneps Media, publisher of more than a dozen local news websites and 75 newspapers and magazines around New York City, Philadelphia and Florida, is seeking a talented, ambitious, energetic full-time reporter to cover neighborhoods in New York City. The reporter will be responsible for writing between 10-12 stories per week, working from the field focused on finding great local stories from around New York City. They will be required to build sources within city government, including community boards and police precincts, as well as with local civic associations, education councils and other associations serving their coverage area. Our New York City media includes amNewYork Metro, amNY.com, The Bronx Times, BXTimes.com, The Brooklyn Papers, BrooklynPaper.com, The Queens Courier, TimesLedger, QNS.com and many other of the city's fastest-growing, up-to-the-minute news outlets. The reporter is ambitious; passionate about journalism; has great communication, reading and writing skills; is able to quickly turn stories around, sometimes within a matter of moments, and meet deadlines; embraces our digital-first newsroom, makes use of social media; is people-friendly; is a self-starter; adept at using cameras to grab interesting photos and videos; and loves breaking great, interesting stories that no one else has.
