Scripps News is seeking an Executive Producer. The Exec Producer is responsible for developing and leading content programming strategy with an emphasis on journalistic excellence and audience relevance, oversees live programming and develops strategies to increase audience engagement.
What You'll Do:
Sets premium programming strategy to capture and captivate a growing audience seeking fair, objective, professional news and information
Oversees live programming, including creation and maintenance of a program guide
Oversees special live programming related to significant news events
Develops strategies to increase audience engagement through content on-air and social networking/marketing; creating and maximizing channels for meaningful connections with audiences
Supports news leaders and other senior leaders to advance the brand's journalism, the First Amendment, and the mission of Scripps
Supervises programming news managers to ensure quality and ethical standards are met
Collaborates with other news managers to share information about daily news operations and content production to ensure that programming and reporting are complementary
Drives cooperative partnerships with other news managers and across Scripps stations that support audience growth and brand consistency
Works with marketing to update news programming and consumer-facing marketing elements
Works with production and technical teams to develop consistent updates to systems and workflows to ensure quality control standards are met and surpassed
Oversees unit hiring needs and onboarding plans for all new hires to ensure new employee training and growth potential is maximized
May manage unit's programming budget
Manages schedules, overtime reports and performance for direct reports, including but not limited yearly reviews
Performs other duties as needed
What You'll Need
BS/BA in journalism, communication or related field preferred
10-plus years' experience in a network news television/linear production preferred

Sound editorial judgment
Must demonstrate good writing skills (including AP style)
Ability to create tactics and strategies to increase demo performance
Must be able to multitask, meet deadlines and work under pressure
Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced newsroom environment strongly preferred
People and project leadership/management experience strongly preferred
Work Environment
Must be physically able to sit at a workstation and maintain productivity for upwards of eight (8) hours on occasion
A relatively high degree of mental acuity and social skills are necessary to successfully interact with coworkers, newsroom supervisors, and the general public, often under time-sensitive conditions
