The Senior Copywriter and Editor is responsible for development of a consistent organizational voice in marketing and fundraising writing across various online and offline channels to build the Scripps brand Translates complex subject matter quickly into appropriate, resonant copy to convey the main ideas simply, and in a way that the target audience can absorb, understand and take action. Uses interviewing and creative writing skills to develop personality profiles and feature stories about patients, medical staff, employees and donors. Consults across disciplines to develop creative concepts and messaging to support strategic business initiatives, including leading the editorial process for print and electronic publications and newsletters, fundraising proposals, direct mail and email campaigns, brochures, bios, advertising and web copy. Proofreads and edits a variety of written materials to follow AP style, ensure the use of correct grammar and support promotion a positive organizational image. Balances multiple writing projects under tight deadlines. Develops strategies for large recurring writing assignments. Collaborates with Scripps marketing and foundation teams to ensure work meets organizational and departmental goals. This individual will support the production of San Diego Health Magazine, Scripps Health Foundation capital campaign and priorities, and writing for digital marketing and fundraising campaign.
This is a full-time, benefitted position located in San Diego.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills
A minimum five years of experience demonstrated success as a copywriter for marketing and fundraising campaigns.
Must have experience in copywriting and editing for traditional print and digital.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office content.
Required Certification/Registration
CA Driver's License.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or related field.
Experience with long form publication.
Experience working for a non-profit organization in healthcare.
Health care experience with experience in fundraising and medical writing preferred.

Position Pay Range: $31.11-$46.66/hour
