Senior Medical Writer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Medical Writer, or an ambitous Medical Writer looking for their next career move, to join our growing Healthcare Copy team.

You will be responsible for developing on-brief, accurate copy for Healthcare projects across human and animal health, covering brand and scientific communications for a wide variety of media for mutliple therapy areas. These communications can include patient and caregiver support materials, promotional assets such as leavepieces, detail aids and slide decks, as well as educational programmes encompassing digital and print materials, including congress activities. You will also have an oppotunity to mentor and support other members of the Healthcare Copy team, through reviewing their work and providing constructive criticism, as well as participate in proposals and pitches.

You'll work closely with other members of the Healthcare Copy team, as well as the wider HH Global team, inlcuding Client Services, Creative and Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Developing and writing engaging, accurate and fully referenced copy for selected accounts and reviewing other team members’ work on these accounts to ensure high-quality deliverables
Developing and writing copy for different media including digital, print, internal communications, storyboards, slide decks and meeting materials
Taking the role of medical writing lead on medium-sized account(s), with support from a senior team member, where appropriate
Acting as in-house therapy area expert across one or two therapy areas
Mentoring, or directly line-managing, junior members of the Healthcare Copy team
Participating in the development and delivery of proposals for new business, including within their designated accounts and in therapy areas where they have specific experience
Attending client and thought-leader meetings and teleconferences, leading the content discussions as appropriate
Ensuring all work allocated is executed within the timeline and schedule provided, and recording all hours worked accurately on Workfront
Collaboratively working with the Client Services, Creative and Digital development teams to produce high-quality communications
Actively contributing toward optimising ways of working within the Healthcare Copy team
Actively responding to fluctuating business workloads, which may involve assisting with other team members’ workload as directed
Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with all other departments
Being a brand guardian, both for our company brand as well as for our clients
Managing personal workload and schedules

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

Existing experience within the healthcare communications industry, such as a communications agency, with experience of writing for different audiences
BSc in a medical or scientific subject; MSc or PhD preferred but not essential
Therapy area experience across three or four disease areas
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work simultaneously on more than one project
Good knowledge and understanding of current international life sciences arena
Ability to provide realistic ideas for projects which deliver on client’s objectives
Experience across various channels of healthcare communications
Ability to write accurately and creatively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work as part of a team or solo
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients
Strong Mac literacy, certain dedicated software and highly experienced in Microsoft Office
Sound judgement and decision-making skills with the ability to distinguish when further supervision is needed
Demonstrated ability to deliver results to the appropriate quality and timeline metrics
