Deputy Production Editor

7NEWS.com.au has an opportunity for an experienced production journalist with a passion for breaking news and a fast-paced environment to join our dynamic young team.

As deputy production editor you will ensure content across the site and our other digital channels is delivered to our audience at the highest possible standard.

Your experience will also be key in helping develop and mentor the team.

Based in the Seven West Media HQ at Osborne Park and reporting to the production editor, you will:

Edit and fact check copy on articles, newsletters, social media posts and other content as required
Maintain copy and layout style
Work with the content strategy editor for best-in-class headline SEO
Work with frontpage editors to optimise social headlines
Build stories with content partner copy as required
Share feedback with reporters on style, expression and story structure
Be available for shifts variously covering the early morning and early evening with occasional weekend work as needed

We are looking for someone who has:

Experience sub-editing copy at a major metro masthead/news site
A solid understanding of media law and ethics
A passion for breaking news
An ability to move quickly and carefully with a fine attention to detail
Good interpersonal communication skills and works well in small teams
