The Opportunity

Skift seeks a skilled and dynamic Travel Experiences reporter to join our team in the UK (remote anywhere in-country). The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in mapping the landscape of the rapidly evolving travel experiences sector, focusing on tours, activities, multi-day tour operators, and travel agents. As the industry undergoes significant changes and disruptions, the Travel Experiences reporter will be responsible for producing insightful and engaging content that elevates Skift's coverage in this domain. Only UK candidates will be considered!

Skift is a fully distributed, remote company with employees based across the globe. This position is remote and requires a high level of coordination and communication skills to be successful. You must be able to work independently, meet goals, set tasks in a timely manner, join meetings via video, and periodically work outside normal company hours for special events or projects.

Some of What You'll Do

Pitch and write provocative articles by tapping into the major players across the industry.
Monitor and write breaking news updates on the travel sector
Conduct on-point interviews with key industry thought leaders
Evaluate the latest trends in experiential travel and conduct in-depth research on regional specialists, highlighting their differentiation strategies and market reach
Identify and analyze key stakeholders in the travel experiences ecosystem, including established players and emerging disruptors
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive coverage and alignment with Skift's editorial objectives.

The Experience You Bring

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
Proven experience as a business reporter, preferably in the travel industry.
Strong understanding of the travel experiences sector, including tours, activities, and travel agency dynamics.
Excellent research, analytical, and interviewing skills.
Ability to connect dots and identify trends in the industry.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Bonus Points: Comfortable on stage and interviewing at live events
Proven experience in a newsroom or similar dynamic media environment.
In-depth understanding of the travel industry and its dynamics.
Proficiency in various social media platforms and tools.
