We are looking for an intuitive communicator to join our communications team working across the internal and external communications functions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced communicator who is passionate about the work they do and the service they provide.

Based in Manchester, reporting to the head of marketing and communications, working closely with the internal communications manager. This is a hybrid role that supports the delivery of Slater + Gordon’s internal and external communications.

The role covers the creation of a broad range of communications and acts as a link to both external media and colleagues, delivering our messages to the desired target audiences via traditional PR and media relations, blog writing plus event coordination and delivery.

Accountabilities

Newsjacking the business agenda on a daily basis for commenting on the latest business news for clients ranging from recruitment, IT and finance.
Building great relationships and consultancy skills with clients
Media relations and regular sell-ins with key media
PR content creation
Providing briefs for other departments / external service providers
Helping account managers and directors ensure work is on time and top quality.
Reporting & evaluation
Seek compelling news stories from across the business and producing accurate and engaging content, written and visual across our communication platforms including intranet, email, video.
Assist with the smooth running of executive and leadership events on a regular basis, working with Executive Assistants to ensure all logistics are covered and with comms to ensure the best outcome for the event.
Run local engagement events with smaller teams aligned with our group events program, helping to drive engagement and amplify the employee voice.
Work with the internal comms manager to update and build intranet content ensuring this key channel is fresh and engaging.
Manage the editorial plan for the weekly e-newsletter and assist with the effective delivering of this key channel to different audiences.
Support key business areas to develop and deliver comms plan for engagement including diversity and inclusion, marketing colleagues, key change initiatives.
Monitor and co-ordinate business as usual requests and updates to the Group-wide intranet and Internal Communications mailbox.

Skills And Competencies

Demonstrate sound communication skills, written and verbal, and be a natural storyteller.
Be calm and logical under pressure, and comfortable communicating with all levels and able to instil confidence.
Ability to build relationships quickly and influence stakeholders to achieve your objectives.
Self-motivated, able to work autonomously: a do-er, reliable, curious and have a good eye for detail.
Experience and interest in both digital communications and events is desirable.
Degree level education in relevant subject area: 2:1 or above.
